About the Job:
The position of CHB Import Entry Writer will have primary responsibility for the preparation of customer’s import shipments, FCL and LCL and air, from origin to destination in compliance with company standards, customs, and government regulations.
In This Role, You Will:
- Ensure that all required documents are received from customers for clearance of the shipment thru US Customs and any PGA that maybe required
- Transmitting of clearance data to CBP via ABI.
- Pay any collect charges due on shipments as required by customers.
- Track all shipments to confirm to confirm ETA
- Provide updates to customers regarding the status of their shipments.
- Work with forwarders and steamship lines to receive arrival details on all shipments.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Billing of clearance charges, any charges paid out on a customer’s behalf, etc.
- ALL OTHER DUTIES AND PROJECTS AS ASSIGNED

Required:
- Previous Import experience is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Employee must have or achieve through on-the-job training:
- Ocean and air freight industry information
- Carrier selection (ocean, air and domestic)
- Knowledge to identify specialized cargo (hazardous, OOG, overweight)
- Inco terms
- NVOCC terminology and methods
- Container specifications
- Other/Partner government agency requirements
- World Geography
- Be able to read and understand the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS
