Staff Engineer

 

 

I.          POSITION OBJECTIVE 

This position exists to provide assistance and recommendation on corrosion related evaluation through participating of P&ID review, equipment specification review, damage mechanism review of equipment inspections, Equipment Abnormal Analysis review, PSM operations issues review, RBMI corrosion research, incident investigations, project review / study, PHA study, inspection and maintenance audit.

II.         MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY  

  • Development and maintenance of Corrosion Control Manual.
  • Review and improvement of corrosion standards and procedures.
  • Responsible for development, review and maintenance of CEMP, CUI and CUF program.
  • Provide assist and training on corrosion related PM/PdM program activities, such as corrosion rates calculation and assess risk of CEMP and CUI /CUF.
  • Provide improvement for identified corrosion problems.
  • Assist in development of PSM equipment ITP.
  • Oversee corrosion related regular or T/A operation and maintenance activities.
  • Assist in the technical development and mentoring of operations-based corrosion control personnel through routine interactions and providing technical review and support.
  • Carries out failure analysis on corrosion related leakage or VOC occurrence and failure investigations in order to enhance safety and integrity of the plant.
  • Provide technical resource in analysis of data and damage mechanisms.
  • Review and audit of PSM operations and corrosion issues such as Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), accident investigation.
  • Provide recommendations and training to operations / maintenance personnel and support leadership team.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

III.  QUALIFICATIONS

A.  TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA  (Minimal Technical Requirements)

1.   Previous Related Experience Required

  • Minimum of 1 - 4 years direct relevant experience in the refining, petrochemical, chemical process, power generation industries, or similar industry is required.
  • 3-5 years of petrochemical process experience and working knowledge of field operations preferred

2.   Technical Skills Required To Perform This Job

  • General knowledge on material standards (e.g. ASTM, ANSI, ASME, API, NACE and ISO)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbally;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Excellent computer skills;
  • A willingness and drive to continue to learn and to improve yourself;

3.   Education  (Minimal Education Needed)

  • BS in Engineering

 

4.   Other Certification/Training Required To Gain Function-Related Technical Knowledge

  • API 571, API 581 and related AMMP certification is preferred

5.   Other Requirements 

  • Must have regular, reliable attendance as well as the ability to work outside the regular schedule as required.
  • Availability to work outside normal hours.
  • Must be willing and able to carry a cell phone and respond as needed
  • Must be willing and able to work in an office environment.
  • Experience writing and revising standards or procedures.
