DEPARTMENT:                                  BTD Pilot Plant/Process Research

I. POSITION OBJECTIVE
  • This Research Scientist/Engineer position exists to develop and scale up new applicable catalysis and process knowledge and technologies with our company for commercializing innovative value-added products, of high-performance polyolefin catalysts to maintain the competitive position, of new technical methods to improve product quality, and of superior pre-/in-/post-reactor processes to optimize the efficiency, performance, and product quality of the catalysis/polymerization operations. All while sustaining a safe and healthful working environment that meets environmental, health, safety regulations, and company requirements.

II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Catalyst Development: Develop and secure intellectual properties to ensure sustainability by integrating catalyst and process development, including but not limited to single-site catalysts or metallocene/non-metallocene catalysts, and catalyst preparation process to manufacture value-added polyolefin products and to maintain the competitive position for our company. Additionally, invent supported single-site catalyst (metallocene/non-metallocene) and dual catalyst systems applicable for current polymerization processes to provide the highest quality products and improve product market competence.
  • Catalyst/Process Scale-Up: Propose the innovative catalyst for pilot and commercial trials, initiate SOP and set up process parameters, prepare program reports/technical presentation, implement catalyst commercial application, and provide technical service during the application. Lead the projects for the development and industrialization of polyolefins catalyst systems, resin production and additives packages. Propose and carry out methods to scale-up catalyst and support-activator syntheses to pilot and commercial plant scale.
  • Process Research/Development: Optimize manufacturing technologies of our current assets, develop analytical testing programs and resolve pre-/in-/post-reactor manufacturing/process problems to increase productivity and to improve product quality.
  • Technical Support: Collaborate with internal operations units to develop and implement catalyst and/or process related improvement plan.
  • THM: Promote cleanliness and order through implementation of the Total House Keeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain the plant like new condition.

III. QUALIFICATIONS
  • PhD preferred, Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer, or related field required. (PhD preferred in Inorganic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry & Physics or Organometallic Chemistry or Polymer Material Science or Coordination & Inorganic Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or Catalysis Engineering)
  • A minimum of ten plus (10) years research and development experience in polyolefin, chemistry, catalysis, chemical engineering, polymer, or a related field, preferably in a petrochemical facility. Experience in polyolefin industry or academic experience with organic and organometallic design and syntheses, polyolefin catalyst, and polyolefin preparation, polymerization and characterization or a related field in polyolefin manufacturing experience is advantageous.
