Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
The purpose of this position is to:
To ensure and improve chemical and packaging materials procurement and inventory management to support Plants Operation/Production without interruption and meet ISO quality control which improved production efficiency and competition ability. Liaise between NJ Purchasing, NJ PO Business Unit, NJ EH&C, TX Operation, TX Technical Lab, NJ/TX Accounting, TX Storeroom to keep activities smooth and maximize company profits. Perform communication, planning, data analyzing ability to generate various management reports for inventory and material quality control.
Major Areas of Accountability:
- SSA Management: Maintain SSA System and setup Safety Stock Level for Chemical/Packaging Material. Work closely with Plants' Processing Engineers (TX) to review and setup SSA control levels to secure inventory and to support Production.
- Control Material Management: Follow Procedure) guild line and work with Plants Processing Engineers/PIC, BTD/Lab (TX), ES&C, purchasing (NJ) to setup/update control documents of Approved Vendors List and upload Material Specification Sheet to A/S400 System to ensure qualified chemical and packaging materials are acquired for Production use. Assist Operation Units to meet ISO standard in chemical material procurements, and provide necessary controlled material documents/reports to Business Unit, ES&C (NJ).
- Co-Monomer Butene-1, Hexene-1 (C4/C6) Procurement: Join/work with NJ Business Units, Purchasing and TX Plant PIC to complete and setup annual purchasing contracts with multiple vendors to meet and support C4/C6 Grades Production goals. Monitor usage and inventory level. Due to multiple Vendors and multiple Users, we integrate and arrange monthly railcar order schedules and issue B/O Release to Vendors. Provide assistance if any issue occurred. Prepare C4/C6 Report to Business Unit.
- Review Daily Chemical/Packaging PR & Manual PR: Review each SSA regular PR Defer entry in A/S400 System which confirmed by Plant User/PIC (TX) and also review manual PR due to trial, first time buy or emergency case in daily basis. Upon our approval, the PR will send to Purchasing (NJ) for processing. May discuss with User/PIC or Lab if any issue discovered. Review PR comparison sheet, R/R, annual B/O contract from Purchasing Department and provide comment/advice if need.
- Run AS/400 Query data and arrange monthly analysis reports of all chemical/packaging materials. Prepare material usage; inventory status, turnover rate, negative/obsolete and also catalyst, main anti-oxidants report and analysis data. Discuss with User/PIC (TX) for inventory improvement and avoid material shortage and over stock.
- Main Anti-Oxidants Procurement: Integrate all PP/PE Units, analyze usage and inventory status, prepare quarterly order schedules and issue P/R to Purchasing. Review Purchasing’s vendor/price bids comparison sheet, coordinate with Users and finalize quarterly order contract. Monitor usage and inventory level, Assist and coordinate all Departments if any issue.
- Handle critical issue and deal with emergency case for material procurement. Work and coordinate with Plant User/PIC, Purchasing, Accounting, Storeroom and prepare status report for follow-up and problem solving.
- May join Purchasing’s meeting with vendors/suppliers to maintain relationship and obtain market information or new material development. Share information with TX Operations, Lab and higher Management if necessary.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications Required:
- 7-10 years of experience in the Petro-Chemical industry or related field. Engineering or Business Management background preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university. Engineering degree preferred.
- Read/Write/Speak Mandarin fluently
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
