The Manufacturing Engineering and NPI Manager is a key role to support Christie’s growth strategy by developing systems, processes and people to support the most efficient conversion of designs and prototypes into commercial products that can be manufactured to operational targets. The Manager will oversee large scale production infrastructure projects and programs in a multi-disciplinary team comprised of professional engineers, subject matter experts and operational staff.  

By promoting and influencing the pursuit of innovative new concepts and ideas for operational and manufacturing excellence, the Manager will direct the overall transition of products and services from design phase through to manufacturing and commercialization; and ensure robust manufacturing methods and product testing to drive yield, productivity and operational efficiency. 

In addition, the Manager will provide Project Leadership for cross-functional initiatives to solve primary technical and/or business problems and achieve new objectives for Christie. 


  • Participates in short and long term planning and evaluation and makes independent decisions on work methods and procedures within an overall program.
  • Originality and ingenuity are required for devising practical and economical solutions to difficult technical problems or assignments.
  • Requires sound project management, communication, team leadership and work coordination skills to integrate work efforts of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Must have ability to motivate and coach others, and to negotiate agreements with suppliers, clients, contractors and others. 
  • Coordinates efforts at all levels with other departments in the organization, including Design Engineering, Quality, R&D and Manufacturing.
  • Provide leadership to a group of technical professionals (engineers) accountable for efficient manufacturing and test processes and methods to support Production. Provide coaching, mentoring, training opportunities and ongoing professional development.
  • Design an effective and efficient organizational structure for delivery of engineering services, and ensure staff have the requisite skills and competencies. Conceptualize and implement required organizational changes for continuous improvement of the function.
  • Lead special projects assigned by the Vice-President or President. These are typically cross-functional initiatives to support or improve production within the context of a business growth strategy and industry leadership position.
  • Facilitate and manage cross-boundary conversations and solutions, helping to manage conflicts and ensuring decisions are made that are in the best interest of the business. Liaise between engineering and production to resolve engineering/production issues/problems.
  • Assist liaisons with suppliers through Vendor Quality to accommodate changes in specifications/requirements to manufactured parts and assemblies.
  • Keep senior management peers and direct reports informed of all matters of significant importance, especially when initiating changes. 


  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Applied Science
  • P.Eng. and PMP designations preferred
  • 5-10 years of progressive and relevant engineering experience plus 5 years management experience
  • Business leadership and management skills applied in engineering services, product development and operations management
  • Effective Project Management skills and ability to conceptualize complex multi-disciplinary solutions
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to coordinate and facilitate agreements, and influence decisions at all levels
  • Analyze, interpret and summarize complex data from many sources (some with competing priorities) and make relevant decisions
  • Management training, mentoring and coaching, and effective team building
  • Promote a positive influence on company and department culture
  • Strong managerial, communication, presentation and budgeting skills (financial analysis)
